He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Rainey and Vida Pearl Sutherland Tyson; his son Daniel Tyson; and his sisters, Opal Pipkin and Jacqueline Schoolman.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Rodgers Tyson; his children, Robin Hayes (Heath) of Meigs, Bunky Tyson, Sr. of Meigs and Michelle Walker (Chris) of Ochlocknee; his grandchildren, Bunky Tyson, Jr., Jessica Tyson, Christain Tyson, Alexis Cannon, Trenton Hayes, Lauren Hayes and Raley Walker; and his brother John Michael Tyson. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
