He was predeceased by: his parents, John Charles Gavel, Sr. and Lena Calebaugh Gavel; and his brother Robert Gavel. He is survived by: his wife Emelia M. Gavel of McDonough, GA; his children, Vicky Barron, Michael Gavel (Lyn), John C. Gavel III, Steven Gavel (Martha), Melanie Gavel and Debora Smith (Dean); and his sister Dolores Noell. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
