He was predeceased by: his parents, Berry Roy and Lena McConnell Childs; his brothers, William Douglas (Betty Pruitt), Asa Lamar (Mary Laurens), Thomas Calvin and Johnnie Russell; and his grandparents, Asa, Margaret Vaughn Childs, William Postell and Frances Lucetta Craft McConnell.

He is survived by: his sister Nellie Jack Jones (Kendell) of Shelby, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Skelton Childs of Conyers, GA and Frances Campbell Childs of Royston, GA. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
