He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ida Johnson Harper; his children, Ray Harper, Jr. (Beth), Tony Harper (Debbie), Michael Harper (Tammy), Lisa Morris (David), Sherry Simpson (Rob) and Mark Harper; and his siblings, Gary Armistead (Brenda) and Patricia Armistead. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may send contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
