He was predeceased by: his parents, John Griggs and Norma Griggs; and his brother John Griggs. He is survived by: his wife Irene; his sons, Scott, Shawn (Whitney) and Tom (Anna); his brother Bill (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Dana, Alexis, Rachel, Miles, Tyler and Stella; and his great grandchild Taryn. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation's Memorial Fund.
