He was predeceased by: his parents, Lammie L. Thurmond, Sr. and Willie Ione Thurmond; his former wives, Ruth Kight, Emily Getman and Maria S. Thurmond; and his siblings, Nita Rhodes (Jim), Stuart Thurmond (Roselle) and Barbara Van Horn (Van).
He is survived by: his wife Janice N. Thurmond; his children, Thurmond, III, Mark Thurmond (Debbie), Lainey Gaines and Mitzi Scott (Jimmy); his stepsons, Jeffrey Grable (Melissa), James Grable (Peji) and Jon Grable; and his grandchildren, Phillip Thurmond, Nathan Gaines (Jordan), Taylor Gaines (Marissa), Chase Gaines (Courtney), Myra Newton (Alex), Austin Scott (Riley), Shane Thurmond, Melody Thurmond (Wade), Sam Thurmond, Teresa Thurmond, Courtney King, Charlie Grable, Nicole Grable, Saba K. Bostic, Ali Konjedi, Dakota Hardin, Jasmine Hardin and Caitlyn Hardin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Episcopal Church (1673 Jamerson Rd, Marietta, GA 30066).
