He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lee Gillilan and Mary Katherine Souther Gillilan; and his siblings, Wanda Sue Gillilan and Bill Gillilan. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Allmon Gillilan; his daughters, Dana Carole Gillilan of Marietta and Jennifer Lynne Gillilan (Timothy Michael Traylor) of Smyrna; and his pet Mickey. He is also survived by nieces and cousins.
