He was predeceased by: his parents, Junior Ricks and Ruth Ricks; and his sister Judy Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Bertha Ricks; his children, Joel David Ricks, Jr. (Jessica) of Conyers, Rachel Ricks (Bob Yarbrough) of Mansfield and Jimmy Ricks (Hope) of Covington; and his siblings, Johnny Ricks and Mary Daniel. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren.
