He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellison Arnold Smith, Sr. and Olga Zenell McQuaig Smith; his wife Shirley Marie Young Smith; and his brother Calvin Sim Smith. He is survived by: his daughter Sherry; his son-in-law Barry Barnes of Manor; his son Calvin; his daughter-in-law Ivy Kaye Smith of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Ashley (Daniel Frazier) and Cody Barnes of Manor; his great grandchild James Frazier of Valdosta; his brother Arnold; his sister-in-law Linda Smith of Manor; and his sister Zenell Butler of Manor. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
