He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Gunnells and Mary Nash Gunnells; and his siblings, Will D. Gunnells, Johnette Swann, Rachel Williams, Louise Gunnells and Marian Kimsey.
He is survived by: his wife Katie Tyner Gunnells; his sons, Johnny Gunnells (Nita) and Greg Gunnells (Linda); his sisters, Sue Ginn and Myra Lesseur; his grandchildren, Julie Ledford (Adam), Chris Gunnells (Anna) and John Gunnells; and his great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Nora Gunnells and Elle Ledford.
