He was predeceased by: his parents, George Childers and Eva Lou Childers; his siblings, Clara Mae Bryan, Clayton and Carlton Childers; and his daughter Christina Childers.
He is survived by: his wife Florence "Flo" Childers; his daughters, Marcie Forrester (Jonathan) and Megan Kirk (Joel); his grandchildren, Peyton Forrester, Landon Kirk, Luke Kirk, Leah Kirk and Addie Kirk; his brother-in-law Denton Bryan; his band mates, Clyde Jones, Bobby Cleland and David Adams; and his close friend Buck Howard. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the J. C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home (2157 East St, Covington, GA 30014). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of J. C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home (2157 East St, Covington, GA 30014).
