He is survived by: his wife June Binford of Macon, Georgia; his children, Michelle Grinnell of Kathleen, Georgia, Alecia Martin Huntsman (Mark) of Forsyth, Georgia and Benjie Binford (Carmen) of Forsyth, Georgia; his grandson William Grinnell, III (Marissa) of Valdosta, Georgia; his children, Jordan Grinnell of Tifton, Georgia, Brock of Macon, Carter Beth Toller of Macon, Kaylee of Forsyth, Georgia and Sadie Binford of Forsyth, Georgia; his siblings, Beth Damron of Macon, Georgia, Nancy Guthrie of Laguna Beach, California and Jimmy Haston of Perry, Georgia; his nephew Lewis Brooks of Macon, Georgia; his sister-in-law Brenda Smith of Macon, Georgia; and his pet Maggie Mae.

““I first ran across Thad when he would ride his Triumph up to the 41 Drive-inn in 1963. He would come there to troll Billy Floyd and his Harley CH. I admired his fearlessness, but did not get my own hotrod ride until 40 years later. I thought of him when I was able to enjoy the same freedom of speed as he did, so thank you Thad, for the inspiration! RIP, tailwinds always.” Donny Griffin”
