He was predeceased by: his parents, John Satterfield McCord, Sr. and Mac "Bower" Lawson Macfey McCord; and his siblings, Beth Brown and Lawson Hill. He is survived by: his nephews, Jimmy Hill, Fraser Gordy (Betsy Colquitt), Frederick McCord Jr. (Elizabeth McCord Kelleher) and John Brown (Jessica Shirley); and his former wife Patty Thorne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Children's Home, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA 31204.
