The memory of Emmett Young Stokes of Macon, Georgia, who passed away on March 9, 2025 at the age of 88, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Young Stokes and Alice Jewell McGee Stokes; his wife Joyce Dubose Stokes; his grandson Stephen Y. Stokes, Jr.; his siblings, Emily Bray and James McGee "Mack" Stokes; and his son-in-law Dane Brooks.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Y. Stokes, Sr. (Pam) of Macon, Kim Stokes McKinney (Daryl) of Macon and Lori Stokes Brooks of Macon; and his grandchildren, Daniel Stokes (Christy), Susanna DeWitt (Tommy), Tim Stokes (Josie), Tina Stokes (late Stephen Stokes), Brooks Hinton (Melissa), Carley Raffield (Joe), Taylor Brooks and Tanner Brooks (Caroline). He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hart's Mortuary (6324 Peake Rd, Macon, GA 31210). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at the Grace Primitive Baptist Church (4579 Sardis Church Rd, Macon, GA 31216).
