He was predeceased by: his parents, Columbus Thornsberry and Ollie Mae Sparkman Thornsberry; and his wife Glenda Martin Thornsberry. He is survived by: his children, Teresa Philyaw (Richard), David Thornsberry (Kris) and Dr. Robert Thornsberry (Starling); his grandchildren, Mark Thornsberry, Dr. Laura Greyling, Lisa Yawn, Justin Thornsberry, Zach Philyaw and Ally; and his great grandchildren, Ansley, Caroline, Ethan, Christo, Avery, Audrey, Elizabeth, Lydia, Anna and Silas. He is also survived by brothers, sisters and in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alice Lloyd College in.
