With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mattie Lou Akins of Lyons, Georgia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Mattie left this world on December 30, 2024 at the age of 95, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Charles Wilson Willis and Mittie Rilla Vaughn Willis; her former husband Willie James Akins, Sr.; her son Willie J. "Buster" Akins; and her siblings, Charles Wilson "Cuz" Willis, Jr., Louise Willis Driggers, Ola Juanita Willis Hand, Robert Willis, Sr., Martha Willis Robinson, Mary Lou Willis Deer and Lynette Willis Hearst.
She is survived by: her husband W. J. Akins; and her son Bobby T. Akins (Paula) of Lyons. She is also survived by one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery (221 Hickory Spring Church Rd, Tifton, GA 31794).
