He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Layton and Voncile Mills Layton; his wife Carolyn Thomas Layton; and his siblings, Olivia Layton and Bill Layton.
He is survived by: his children, Cyndi Layton (Ward) of Tampa, FL, Lori Stovall (Brad) of Lumpkin, GA and Jerry Layton (Karen) of Evergreen, AL; his grandchildren, Kara Layton and Davis Layton; and his great grandchild Adeline.
