He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Mathew Hughes and Ella Faye Wheeler Hughes; his son Paul Varnadoe; his grandson Ethan Fordham; and his siblings, Pearl Newham, Mary Medders, Anita Silas, BJ Hughes, Johnny Hughes Charles Dyal, Johnny Dyal and Roger Dyal.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Pealock Hughes of Lumber City; his children, Sean Hughes (Michelle) of Jacksonville, FL, Myron Cauley of Washington State, Dakota Hughes (Christina) of Hazlehurst, Matthew Varnadoe (Lindsay) of Weir Kansas, Andrew Varnadoe (Casey) of Lumber City, Daniel Varnadoe (Holly) of Jeffersonville, James Varndoe (Brenda) of Lumber City, Shannon Hughes of Utah and Lori Burch (Keegan) of Douglas; and his sisters, Sandra Taylor of Hazlehurst and Deborah. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
