He was predeceased by: his parents, Elijah Chitwood and Ella Jane Scroggs Chitwood; his wives, Betty Jean Meeks Chitwood and Christine Norton Chitwood; his daughter Judy Wade; and his brothers, Junior Chitwood and Grady Chitwood.
He is survived by: his daughter Jackie; his son-in-law Deveret Bond of Gillsville; his children, Jodi Madden of Clarkesville and Scott; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Lynn Chitwood of Athens; his siblings, Mary Scroggs of Nicholson and Dan; and his sister-in-law Wanda Chitwood of Baldwin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous neices and nephews.
