He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther "Doc" Pierce and Amie Lucille Giles Pierce; his wife Margaret Holcomb Pierce; and his siblings, Rhode Williams, Parilee Hardy, Ruby Pierce, Jesse-May Brock and Harrison Pierce.
He is survived by: his children, Gloria Pierce Smith of Lula, Roger (Karla Pierce), Darryl (Patricia Pierce), Dwight (Kathy Pierce), Terry (Debbie Pierce) and Wendy Pierce; and his sister Mammie Harper. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
