He was predeceased by: his parents, Elzie Barrett and Cirene Echols Barrett; his grandson McKenzie Crenshaw; and his brother-in-law Lewis McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee Hulsey Barrett of Gainesville; his children, David Barrett and Tammy; his son-in-law Marc Roth of Marietta; his daughter Jeanine Shannon; his children-in-law, Dr. Ed Shannon of Gainesville and Christy Hulsey of Gainesville; his sisters, Joyce McDonald of Alto and Vivian; his brother-in-law Newton Allen of Fairhope, AL; and his grandchildren, Barrett Roth, Sydney, Maggie Gobbel, Trevor, Ryan Barrett, Jason Barrett, Ashlyn, Alex Barrett, Alan Barrett, Carleigh Hulsey and Cade Hulsey. He is also survived by father and grandfather; he was known to his grandchildren as "Papa".
