He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Wilson and Annie Wilson (Thomas); and his wife Lottie Beatrice Wilson (Hardnett). He is survived by: his children, Teresa L. Tillman, Nathan J. Wilson (Ebonie) and Christopher G. Wilson; his grandchildren, Terai A. Tillman, Tyre-Joshua Tillman, Ajani T. Wright, Christopher T. Wilson, Taina J. Tillman, Aaliyah L. Wilson, Kaiya L. Wilson and Isabella A. Wilson; his siblings, Willie Lee Wilson (Pat), James Wilson (Clarice), Edward Wilson, Steven Wilson and Ann Williams (Bernard); and his in-laws, Joe Lee Hardnett (Fannie), Nellie Ruth Higgins (Ernest), Minnie Pearl Laney (James), Charles Hardnett (Bonnie), Douglas Hardnett (Cathy) and Randy Hardnett (Brenda).
