He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Hunter Shivers and Mary Alma Byrd Shivers. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Dean Shivers; his daughters, Lynn Lewis (Dusty) of St. Simons Island, Sandra (Sandy), Bowles (Joe) of North Augusta and Suzanne Barlow (Sean) of Vidette; his grandchildren, Patrick Chance Lewis, Mary Caroline Lewis, Marguerite Palmer Bowles, Joseph Edward Bowles, Jr. (Jeb), Mary Isabella Barlow (Issy) and Kingsley Banks Barlow; his siblings, Paul Shivers, Jr. (Judy), Frances Johnson and Ann Bevan (Frank); and his friend Isiah (Slick).
