He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Simmons (Greenwood); his daughter Kay Suzanne Simmons; his parents, Walter E. Simmons, Sr. and Myrtle Raborn Simmons; and his sisters, Ona May Jenkins, Euna O. Davis, Helen R. Douglas, Margie M. Frierson and Dorothy C. Witthauer.
He is survived by: his son Brent Simmons; his daughter-in-law June Townsend; and his granddaughter Maggie Grace Simmons.
