Haisten Funerals & CremationsMr. John Dewey Mills, Jr., age 66 of Locust Grove went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2019. He was a beloved husband, father, Pop, brother, uncle and friend. John was born on August 8, 1952 to John Dewey Mills, Sr. and Mary Ruth Mills of Rome, GA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ellen H. Mills and three daughters; Kimberly (Scott) Stephens, Caitlin (Ray) Malcolm and Neville (Jayson) Mills. He is survived by eight grandchildren; Ashley, Michael, Mackenzie, Bailey, Jonathan, Will, Brooks and Elle. He is also survived by two sisters Ann Barnes, Chris (Ken) Worrell and four nieces and nephews; Tony Barnes, Brian (Mindy) Barnes, Jason (Amy) Barnes and Amanda (Doug) Holton. Also, five great nieces and nephews; Ian Rosemond, Alex Worrell, Jesse Barnes, Casey Barnes, Peyton Worrell.
Pop was all about Ellen, his wife, and family. He loved watching and coaching his kids, grandkids and their teammates. He was known as Pop to all on the ball fields. He loved going camping, fishing and any day at the beach. Pop never met a stranger, he was a man among men, he was known by all in his community as "the go to guy" and loved by many.
