He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Oberst (Esther Oberst) and Peggy Oberst. He is survived by: his children, Penny Gilmer of Jonesboro, James Oberst Jr. (Shannon) of Locust Grove and Joshua Oberst (Amber) of Jackson; his siblings, Joseph Oberst (Patty) of Ft. Oglethorpe, Dorothea Oberst Pruvenok of Rossville and Nancy Oberst Soesbee (Gilbert); and his grandchildren, Madelynn Oberst, Bentley Oberst, Nolan Oberst, Addison Oberst, Amelia Oberst, Parker Oberst, Emma Gilmer and Jacob Gilmer.
