He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert S. Rhodes and Lunelle Beard Rhodes; and his siblings, Sarah Frances Henderson, Patricia Mack, Albert S. Rhodes, Jr. and John Thomas Rhodes.

He is survived by : his wife Doris Flynt Rhodes; his son Robert Sanders Rhodes, Jr. (Wanda) of Tignall; his siblings, C. Edward Rhodes (Edna) of Tignall, William J. Rhodes of Tignall, Betty R. Reese of Washington and Barbara R. Oakley of Hampton; his sister-in-law Carolyn Rhodes of McDonough; and his grandchildren, Robert S. "Trey" Rhodes, III and Ashley Scott.
