He was predeceased by: his parents, John Simmons and Lydia Gassaway Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Reesie Wright Ludwig; his children, Teresa Wengrow (Andy) of Lincolnton, Angela Ludwig of Lincolnton and John G Ludwig, Jr. (Shannon) of Greenville, SC; his sisters, Jane Levergood of Atlanta and Beth Buncher of Charleston; his grandchildren, Ryan Wengrow, Nicole Melvin, Andy Ray Wengrow, McLain Ludwig, Lawson Ludwig and Emerson Ludwig; his great grandchildren, Sophie Wengrow and Ethan Wengrow; and his friend Joe Racy Wells.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church (5350 GA-220, Lincolnton, GA 30817). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery (5350 GA-220, Lincolnton, GA 30817).
His memory will be cherished and his contributions to the lives he touched will continue to resonate for generations to come.
