He was predeceased by: his wife Lilly Jane Lockhart Tipton; his parents, John Kimsey and Hortense Tipton; and his sisters, Collins (Loren), Joyce and Duckett (Georgie Lou Tipton).
He is survived by: his children, Lita Barnette (Dan) of Clarkesville, GA, Samuel Tipton (Shelby) of Costa Mesa, CA, Linda Hahn of Costa Mesa, CA, Erwin Tipton of Costa Mesa, CA, Stuart Tipton of Costa Mesa, CA, Leslie Johnson (Brian) of Menifee, CA and Jeremy Tipton of Costa Mesa, CA; his grandchildren, Brittany Hahn, Isaac Beauregard Barnette, Curtis Jeb Barnette, Ellie Tipton (Elliot), Nicholas Johnson, Abigail Tipton, Elijah Tipton and Annabel Tipton; and his siblings, Tony Tipton of Clarkesville, GA and Mickey Wilson (JT) of Hiawassee, GA..
