It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Y. Powell of Lawrenceville, Georgia, who passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Mary may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonnie Young and Louise Young; her husband Sam (Sam); and her son Robert Powell. She is survived by: her daughter Kathy Powell of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Amberly [Tim] Johnson of Snellville and Sam Powell of Deerfield Beach, Florida; her great grandchildren, Adelynn and Sophia Johnson of Snellville; and her brother John [Diane] Young of Lilburn. She is also survived by two nieces and a nephew and their children.
A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Grayson United Methodist Church (555 Grayson Pkwy, Grayson, GA 30017). A burial was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery.
