She was predeceased by: her parents, James Harward and Betty Harward; her brother Larry Harward; her nephew Kenny Hayden; her brother-in-law Bob Fields; and her parents-in-law, Hank and Ardelle Fields.

She is survived by: her husband Bill Fields; her children, Katie Smart (Samuel), Lewis of Greensboro, NC and Laura Grant (Matthew); her grandsons, Henry, Carter and Isaac of Charleston, SC; and her siblings, Jamie Harward (Martha), Mike Harward and Kathy Corbin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Duke Cancer Center & The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Out of the Garden Project, the Interactive Resource Center of Greensboro, or Hospice of the Piedmont.
