She was predeceased by: her husband John Barnwell Hammond, Jr.; and her parents, John Thomas Johnson and Ada Dunbar Johnson. She is survived by: her children, John Barnwell "Chip" Hammond, Jr., Gail Hammond Burgess (Billy) of Lavonia, Robin Hammond Richey (Stan) of Toccoa and Christi Hammond Ruff (Jeff) of Elberton; and her grandchildren, Sean Burgess (Amanda), Jonathan Burgess, Tavi Burgess Peeples (Frankie), Brandon Richey, Barkley Richey (Danna), Cameron Ruff and Channing Ruff. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
