He was predeceased by: his parent Thomas Jefferson Dowis; his wife Betty Ann Dowis (McDuffie); his son-in-law Edward Whonic; and his siblings, Sarah Walters, Wallace Dowis, Harold Dowis, Jim Dowis, Bob Dowis, Paul Dowis and Yank Dowis.
He is survived by: his parent Flora Beatrice Dowis (Lankford); his daughters, Gail Whonic, Nancy Lineback (Charles) and Debbie Robinson (Roger); his grandchildren, Leslie, Blake Thompson, Chase, Abbey Lineback, Lee Whonic, Matthew, Jenny Robinson and Kelly Whonic (Jacob Sullivan); and his great grandchildren, Reid Thompson, Hayes Thompson, Charlie Lineback, Caleb McGee and Lillie McGee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lavonia Masonic Lodge # 241 or the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
