Hazel Carolyn Whilden Atkins Obituary
Hazel Carolyn Whilden Atkins ~ 88 Of Lake Park, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was born on September 5, 1933 in Homerville, Georgia to the late Vera (Kight) McGlashan and Samuel McGlashan. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Hazel was a housewife and a loving mother to six boys. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano at church, embroidering, and cooking. She was known for her delicious southern cooking and warm selfless servant heart. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Bonnie Raymond Whilden; son, Donald Whilden; Step-son, Donnie Atkins; four sisters, Mary Kelly, Janie Grimes, Joyce Huckaby, and Linda Graddy.
She is Survived by her husband, Gene Atkins; five sons: Steve (Rita) Whilden of Nashville, Georgia, Howard (Jennifer) Whilden of Stockton, Georgia, Tony (Sherry) Whilden of Stockton, Georgia, Hal (Judy) Whilden of Stockton, Georgia, and Judson Whilden of Stockton, Georgia; Step-son, Marty Atkins; two sisters: Cecile Davis of Axson, Georgia and Sarah Overstreet of Jesup; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and many caring friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Stockton Baptist Church Cemetery, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Atkins family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Lakeland.
