He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bob" Lee Nelms and Willie Lee Lipham Nelms; his wife Judith Elizabeth Eady Nelms; and his siblings, Dovard Nelms, Harold Nelms, Douglas "Jet" Nelms, Louise Nelms Daniel and Zelma Nelms Daniel.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Nelms (Judy) of Cullman, AL, Mark Nelms (Becky McKeen) of Auburn, AL and Kathryn Roberts (JR) of Valley, AL; his grandchildren, Jeremy Nelms (Elizabeth) of Blairsville, GA and Katie Fine (Jacob) of Cullman, AL; and his great grandchildren, Bradlee Nelms of Blairsville, GA, Mara Nelms of Blairsville, GA, Cooper Fine of Cullman, AL, Holly McCart, Lashonda Caver, Mary Overby and Shirley Wilson.
