He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Bruce and Mary Bates Bruce. He is survived by : his wife Sandra Green Bruce; and his children, John Bruce (Dulci), David Bruce (Amy) and Amber Sanchez (Dorian). He is also survived by five sisters and four grandchildren.
