He was predeceased by: his parents, John Poythress, Sr. and Mary Ann Edmondson; his stepmother Ruth Poythress; his daughter Yolander Vanessa Poythress; his brother Ernest Poythress; his daughter-in-law Cassandra Maddox; and his grandson Cory "Truc" Maddox.
He is survived by: his son Guy Poythress; his wife Annie Mae Poythress; his grandchildren, Shenita O'Neal (DeShaun), Carlos Poythress (Natasha), John Poythress IV, Shamiko Gates, DeMario Poythress (Roberta), Shanbreka Matias, Maurice Grissom, Javious Grissom (Shemika), Gabriel Poythress, Sheketa Grissom, DeQuavious Grissom (Monique), Nakayla, Stephanie Warner, Javarris Warner, Jasiah Rowe, Nikki Reed, Emmanuel Brown (Shaquandria), Torrunjulah Cosby, Akia Maddox and Cortnei Maddox; and his sister Georgia.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home (100 Corporate Plaza Dr, LaGrange, GA 30241). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Warren Temple U. M. Church (416 E Depot St, LaGrange, GA 30240).
