She was predeceased by: her parents, Preston Hardy Whitley and Maggie Ola Crews Whitley; her husband Roy Charles McGowan; her granddaughter Crystal Kay Jones; and her siblings, Rachel Crook and Jimmy Whitley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Marsha Jones (Lane) and Sharon Turner (Toby). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
