He is survived by: his wife Margaret Swanson Gilbert; his children, Cecil Gilbert, Jr. (Antonnia), Cynthia Rizer, Phyllis Hall, Bennetta Holt, Demetius Potts (Trenisha Allen) and Dwight Truitt; his siblings, Charles Gilbert, Jr., Mary Joyce Gilbert Dixon (David) of LaGrange, GA, Elder Milton Gilbert, Sr. (Evelyn), Alfred Gilbert (Brenda), Bernice Gilbert Simpson of LaGrange, GA, Rev Richard Gilbert of LaGrange, GA, Don Gilbert of LaGrange, GA, Ruth Gilbert of LaGrange, GA, James Gilbert (Nina), Christie Gilbert Baker (Dexter) of LaGrange, GA and Lavinia Cameron of Cannonville, GA; his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Swanson York of Atlanta, GA, Virginia Swanson Jackson (Clayton) of College Park, GA, Shirley Swanson of LaGrange, GA, Joe Swanson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Jerome Swanson (Donya) of Kentucky and Marshall Swanson (Sylvia) of LaGrange, GA; and his friends, Willie Berry and Oliver Neloms. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home (100 Corporate Plaza Dr, LaGrange, GA 30241). A celebration of life was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (204 Fannin St, LaGrange, GA 30240).
