He was predeceased by: his parents, Glubber McFarlin and Willie Smith McFarlin; and his grandchildren, Courtney McFarlin and Edward Charles, Jr.. He is survived by: his sons, Arthur James McFarlin, Jr. (Patricia), Edward McFarlin, John McFarlin and Tony McFarlin (Janice); his granddaughters, Kenya, Audra, Deandra, Johnauna and Brittany; and his siblings-in-law, John Sheppard, Leroy Sheppard (Dorothy), Roosevelt Sheppard (Irene), George Sheppard (Vivian), Katherine Hill (Richard), Maria Davis (Willie) and Martha Sheppard. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
