He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Shaw Herod Sr. and Mellie Dangler Herod; his siblings, Gwendolyn Moore (Harvey), Coatsie Hodge (Robert), Martha McAdow, Judy Herod and Roy Shaw Herod Jr.; his brother-in-law Bob Morgan; his niece Melliena Morgan; his nephew Verlyn Moore; and his son-in-law Rick Dockery.
He is survived by: his wife Michelle Coker Herod; his sister Hilda Morgan; his children, Rodna Dockery, Harvey Lewis Herod Jr. "Rod" Herod (Debbie), Coatsie Holden (Jason), Loren Ross Herod and Mellie Wren Starrett (Guy); his grandchildren, Jeremy England (Jennifer), Christina Pittman, Blake Murphy, Candice Forsyth (Matt), Savannah Wilson (Brad), Matt Herod (Kesley) and Holland Herod; and his great grandchildren, Kanon, Payton, Aden, Ivan, Judson, Tate, Ace, Lily and Levi.
