He was predeceased by: his parent Laudice Pernell; and his siblings, J. L. Pernell, Arnold Pernell, Dale Pernell, Frank Pernell and JoAnn Hackle.
He is survived by: his mother Evie Dell Cooper Pernell; and his sisters, Willaine Rowland (Harrison) of Kite, Beverly Gay (Glen) of Waynesboro and Paula Roberts (Mike) of Swainsboro. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
