It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Mershon Townsend of Kite, Georgia, who passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie George Townsend and Emma Lederman Townsend. He is survived by : his wife Winifred Cox Townsend of Kite; his children, Charles M. Townsend, II (Nina) of Statesboro, Cindy Jarrard (Steve) of Kite and Marcia Robinson (Andy) of Wrightsville; and his sister Doris Batts of Macon. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Kite C/O Youth's Lighthouse Project, Hood Road, Kite, GA 31049.
