He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester David and Virginia Helms Smith; and his wife Maurine Smith. He is survived by: his great grandchildren, Ricky Smith, Karren Holbert (Randy), Terri Ainsworth (Edwin), Sherry Smith, Chelsee Robinson (Luke), Cassadee Maciel (Fabian), Haley Gulledge Cameron (Bronson), Asa Holbert, Jay Baird, Jesse Kennedy, Jeffrey Kennedy (Madison), Dustin Smith and Dakota Smith; his sister Earline Davis; his half-brothers, Mark and David Smith; and his son Phillip Smith. He is also survived by his loving children, grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dykes Creek Baptist Church or to the Georgia Baptist Association in memory of Elmer D. Smith.
