He was predeceased by: his parent Edgar Smith. He is survived by: his parent Thelma Herndon Smith; his wife Jane Gosdin Smith of Kingston; his children, Karen Cline (Wayne) of Kingston and Edgar Lamar "Mark" Smith, Jr.; his wife JoAnn of Saucier; and his sister Sylvia Smith of LaGrange.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Church at Liberty Square in Lamar's memory.
