She was predeceased by: her parents, Palmer Kitchens and Daisy Mae Richardson Kitchens; and her daughter Brenda Ann "Tina" White. She is survived by: her spouse Gus Thornton of Kinston; her sons, Christopher Gordon Thornton of Montevallo, Alabama, Ralph David Thornton (Lori Ann) of Kingston and Nathan Paul Thornton (Anabel Vivas) of Kingston; and her sister Lana McNair of Point Clear. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
