He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gibbons and Getrude Gibbons; his son Randall Gibbons; and his siblings, Robert Gibbons, Kenny Gibbons, Billy Gibbons, Sue Barclay and Mary Thayer.
He is survived by: his wife Alitha Gibbons; his children, Todd Gibbons (Linda Heck) and Robyn Gibbons; his stepdaughters, Lynne Greba (Patrick) and Leanne Torrie (Alec); his siblings, Tom Gibbons (Betty), Jim Gibbons (Sandy), Dorothy Helvey and Kathie Hawk; and his grandchildren, Rachel, Brandon, Andrew, Ali, Ashleigh, Renee and Nicole. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers: donations in John's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Kennesaw First Baptist Church (Kennesaw GA).
