He was predeceased by: his wife Lois Howard Whitcher; his parents, Emerson Whitcher and Gwendolyn Hazelwood Whitcher; and his siblings, Carol Whitcher, Carmen Bliven, Luella Killingbeck and Floyd Whitcher.

He is survived by: his sister Lucy Winnie; his sister-in-law Lynda Whitcher; his caregiver Shaun Wheeler; and his niece Mary Lou Villalba. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and great neices and nephews.
