He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Brady James, Sr. and Laura Lucille Temple James; his son Charles Brady "Trey" James III; and his sisters, Dorothy James (William "Bill" Wiley), Barbara "Dilsey" James (Joe Glazier, Sr.), Elizabeth "Betty" James (R. B. "Jim" Willingham), Peggy James (Cecil R. Pearson, Sr.) and Laura James Deese.
He is survived by: his daughters, Laurie Grace James Firor of Albuquerque and Heather Bohrer Chappell of Atlanta, Georgia; his granddaughters, Chloe Grace Chappell of Atlanta and Sophia Rose Chappell of Savannah, Georgia; his sister Nancy Lucille James Bell of Merritt Island, Florida; and his former spouse Laurie Alison Hyatt of Gainesville, Georgia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many (beyond) in-laws, friends.
