She was predeceased by: her parents, John Carroll and Thelma Carroll; her husband Hugh Howell Smith; her sons, Larry Smith and Marcus Smith; and her siblings, Ann Benson, John Carroll and Donald Carroll.
She is survived by: her children, Ernie Smith (Glenda) of Lindale, GA, Gene Smith of Rome, GA, Danny Smith (Marsha) of Euharlee, GA, Martha Ann Green (Terry) of Gray, GA, Wayne Smith (Lindy) and Greg Smith of Forsyth, GA; and her sister Jeanette Satterfield (Buddy) of Cartersville, GA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
